iPad 5, iPad Mini 2 Release Date Rumours: Five Reasons Why Tablets Will Have an August Launch

Apple's upcoming tablets, iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2, will be released next month, according to reports.

A new rumour is spreading over the internet claiming that Apple's tablets will be released in August. This negates earlier report that the successor of iPad Mini will be released in December after reports claimed that iPad 5 launch is in September.

A report from Digitimes claims that Apple has still not decided if it wants the next generation model of iPad Mini to feature a Retina display or not. Should it decide to go with the higher-resolution panel, then the device may not be released until the end of the year. The report also stated that Apple is experimenting with iPad Mini designs that feature even slimmer bezels.

DigiTimes has a hit or miss reputation when it comes to Apple products. Thus, its report must be considered as a grain of salt until Apple give out an official statement.

The company's tablet iPad Mini 2 is speculated to come with Retina Display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. Other specs include a more powerful dual core A7 processor and a 7.9 inch screen. It will also feature a 10-hour battery life, a FaceTime HD camera, and an iSight camera with 1080 pixels HD video recording. Apple is also trying to reduce the thickness of the iPad Mini 2 by using the Sharp's IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) technology in its screens.

The iPad 5, on the other hand, is rumoured to have no bezels, and the whole form factor has been made sleeker. Horowitz believes this design indicates that Apple will be calling on Sharp's IGZO screen technology. Sharp, however, according to Horowitz, has been struggling, and its ability to deliver components on time will play a key role in the release of the next iPad.

Apple is tight-lipped when it comes to the rumours surrounding its devices.

However, there are evidences that prove that Apple would release the tablets next month. Below are the five reasons why iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 will be released in August.

iPad Trade-Ins - Yesterday, IBTimes AU reported that US retailer Best Buy started offering iPad trade-ins to its consumers. On Friday and Saturday you can bring in your iPad 2 or the third-generation iPad to any Best Buy outlet and receive a minimum of $200 of Best Buy credit in exchange. If your iPad is in better than regular working condition, Best Buy says you may receive additional cash.

iOS 7 Release Date - According to Apple, the latest iOS 7 will be released this fall. This could mean that a new hardware will be introduced and powered by the OS. Although August is technically not falls in the "fall season", it is also a perfect time to release the OS and the device.

Intense Tablet Competition - There is an undeniable intense competition among tablets in the market. Apple's iPad range faces rivals from different device manufacturers such as Samsung and Google. This gives pressure to Apple to release its own tablet earlier than others to gain advantage over other tablets.

Dwindling iPad Stocks and Disappearance of iPad 2 - There were reports that claimed that iPad stocks start to dwindle and there were no stocks in some retailers and resellers. Moreover, there was once a report that iPad 2 mysteriously disappeared in the market. These signal the imminent release of the next generation of iPad.

Tim Cook's Statement - In one of his interviews, Tim Cook said that no new devices will come until this fall. iPad is technically not a new device. Its successors may come earlier than the aforementioned statement.?
